In light of the rapid development of nuclear fusion, the 16th ITER Neutronics Meeting will be expanded in 2025 to welcome a broader community. We invite participants from both public and private sectors working on any facility or project relevant to nuclear fusion beyond ITER. UNED and ORNL are joining forces to organize an exceptional meeting in Madrid in 2025 - a space for discussion and updates.

No registration fee. The organizers do not provide any financial support.

The FNM2025 will be held exclusively In-Person – No virtual attendance available.

Key Dates

The agenda of the Fusion Neutronics Meeting 2025 will become more detailed as the event approaches, following the schedule outlined below. We will provide further relevant information with each notification:

  • First notification: 8th November 2024
  • Confirmation of venue: 1st December 2024
  • Second notification: 10th January 2025
  • Abstract submission deadline Extended!: 7th February 2025 21st February 2025
  • Third notification and acceptance notification: 7th March 2025
  • Registration deadline: 21st March 2025

Topics

The final breakdown of the conference will depend on the abstracts received. At the current stage, the following topics of high interest for the community are identified. Applicants are encouraged to submit abstracts on any of these topics, either for oral presentation or poster session.

  • Methodologies and codes:
    • Geometry translation.
    • Radiation transport codes.
    • Uncertainty quantification.
    • Nuclear data.
    • Variance reduction for MC.
    • etc.
  • Occupational Radiation Exposure and ALARA.
  • Radioactive waste management.
  • Facilities design analysis.
  • Facilities: ITER, DONES, LIBRTI, etc.
  • Fuel breeding and economy.
  • Neutron diagnostics and calibration.
  • Activated corrosion products.
  • Hot cells of relevance for fusion.
  • Workforce development.
  • Further requirements.
  • etc.

The organizers are promoting the participation of invited contributions of relevance for the conference to provide overviews and authorized perspectives on particular topics or facilities. While no explicit commitment is given in this sense, suggestions are welcome indicating only person and topic through the official email: neutronics@ind.uned.es
